A GENERAL GRANT Proposal is not for law enforcement grants (STEP), nor media campaigns/projects (media vendors, media buys).
Has a traffic safety problem-that this project aims to address-been identified?
Is the identified problem supported by relevant traffic safety data?
Is the traffic safety data specific to Texas statewide or local community?
Does the traffic safety data show over-representation?
Is the Texas traffic safety data sourced correctly?
Is the Texas traffic safety data current (some additional older data may be included to show trends)?
Is the problem solution relevant to the traffic safety problem identified?
Does the problem solution clearly relate to the Texas Traffic Safety Program's goals and strategies?
Does the proposal clearly indicate how project will be evaluated to prove project success?
A Problem Identification Statement is limited to not more than 5,000 characters long (approximately a page and a half). If you go over the 5,000 characters limit, do not submit it as an attachment because attachments are not reviewed nor scored.
However, charts, graphs, tables can be up-loaded as attachments-if they contain data that ties back to the main narrative. These will be reviewed only when mentioned in the main narrative.
Data cannot be older than 2 years (not counting current year). Older data can be included for trending purposes only. Note: See specific year requirements under Problem Identification section of the request for proposals.
Example of data types/sources:
The proposed solution should briefly (max 5,000 characters) describe the scope of work and activities that will be performed to address the traffic safety problem.
